What time does the rink open before a session?
The doors open 30 minutes prior to each session time, allowing you to collect your skates and get them on! You will however not be allowed onto the ice until the session is formally opened.

Can children under 4 years old skate at the Durban Ice Arena?
Sadly, it is not possible for children under 4 years old to skate.

What clothing is suitable for ice-skating?
Even though we are under cover, it is recommended that you wear something warm, especially for the little ones. We suggest gloves, long socks, heavy weight full length trousers, such as denim or cord and long sleeved shirts or jackets.
Note: Socks are a must to wear when using our rental skates. If you forget your socks, we do have socks are available for purchase in our Skate Shop.

I have my own skates – can I use them?
Yes, as long as you understand our disclaimer that you do so “at your own risk”. Our insurance only covers skaters while using our skates.

What size skates do you have?
Our skates come in sizes 9 – 2 for children, and 3 – 13 for adults. In the unlikely event that we do not have your size for your session, we will offer you an alternative time.

I am in a wheelchair – can I come on the ice?
Wheelchair users are more than welcome to the Ice Arena. Please e-mail us at info@durbanicearena.co.za to discuss your requirements and our team will be able to assist.

What can I do with my handbag or personal belongings while I’m skating?
We advise that NO personal belongings are taken on the ice surface. Lockers are provided for a nominal fee, where you can safeguard your valuables. The Durban Ice Arena will not be held responsible for any loses or stolen property, nor damages to mobile phones/iPods etc.

Where can I park?
Convenient parking is available in the road adjacent to the Ice Arena, as well as in the East parking lot (Carpendale), about 50 meters from arena, both of which are safe and secure. Secure parking is also available at Olive Convention Centre and in the event it is full, secure parking will be available at Hoy Park.

What if Durban Ice Arena cancel’s a session?
In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a session or close, skaters will be offered an alternative session.

Can I bring my pets to the ice rink?
Unfortunately no pets are allowed in the Ice Arena.

Can I bring outside food or drinks into the Arena?
No outside food or beverages can be brought into the Durban Ice Arena. There are a number of cafes and restaurants available for any of your food and beverage requirement.

 

Events and Birthday Parties

Do you host birthday parties at the Ice Arena?
Absolutely! Skating parties are great fun, and we have a number of different packages available for you. Visit the Birthday Parties section on the website for our options.

Payments for birthday  parties?
Should payment for a birthday party not be received 48 hours prior to the date of the party- please come onsite and pay at the ticket office.

Am I able to purchase platters on the day of the party?
We have a 3 working day cut off to order platters
You are welcome to come on site and purchase food from the café.

Can the Arena be rented for other activities?
